I’m gonna burst
– January 13, 2017 Toby –
The rains have been steady and I don’t know if I can last another day. I’m ready to burst. To tell the truth, I don’t like the rain, even when they do put that ridiculous plastic jacket on my back that’s so ruff on the ears and face. So I haven’t been outside for more than a tinkle in several days. Nobody is home and I’m curled up like a ball, waiting for the chance to go.
What’s that, the click of the door. I’ll just wait here a bit, don’t want to get too much movement going.
“Hey buddy,” Johnnie calls from the kitchen. “Let’s go for a walk. No rain.”
I look at the window across the room and it’s grey. Hmm. Is Johnnie getting me worked up? I think I’m gonna burst. I thought poodles are supposed to be water dogs. Hmm. Must be the Maltese. It makes me cold just thinking about walking in the rain. It’s so cold. I mean don’t they know when they cut my hair short and then I get wet I get cold. C’mon now.
Hmm. That little outburst made me sleepy. I don’t know how much more I can stay awake.
“C’mon you lazy dog.” Johnnie walks over and gives me a belly rub.
No. I think I am going to burst. But it feels so good, don’t stop, yes. Yes, oh yeah.
“Get up.” Johnnie walks away and heads out of the room. I jump up and follow running. Keep it tight. Hold it.
Johnnie has the harness and leash ready and we are out the door. Nice. No rain. I like it. We head down the stairs and I splash through the puddle in the sidewalk. The smells are not so good. The rain seems to wash away the ripeness. Oh, there’s a good smell and she smells good too.
I lift my leg and sprinkle. Then we cross the lot and onto the lawn where I let the liquid flow. Yeah baby.

“Let’s go.” Johnnie starts walking and we head down the sidewalk, cross the road and I head up under the tall tree and there’s my spot. Oh finally. Thank you.
Off we go. I feel so good and the air is fresh and the grey clouds look like rain, but it’s not raining. Yes It’s not raining. I love when the rain is not.
